10 Books That Shaped Me

For the longest time books were my only friends. Bullies, best friend moving out of state, and shyness kept me in this bubble. Books were safe. I could go on a million different adventures and have the best of friends all in the pages of books. Here is a list of ten books that have shaped me into the person that I am:

  1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

  2. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares

  3. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

  4. Emma by Jane Austen

  5. Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien

  6. Mediator (series) by Meg Cabot

  7. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Gemma Doyle

  8. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

  9. Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand

  10. The Arms and the Man by George Bernard Shaw

(I know technically the last two are plays, but Rostand and Shaw are comedic geniuses.)

These ten books taught me about friendship, love, magic, comedy, heartache, suspense, and fueled my passion for creating my own stories.

Honorable Mention: The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce is my least favorite novel of all time. I will never forgive my AP English teacher, Mr. Andrews, for forcing me to read this self-important garbage. LOL
